One of my personal goals right now is to practice gratitude as much as I can, but especially when things are hard. Through yoga and the teachings of Buddha, I’ve learned that the only way to be happy is to be thankful for what ya got, when ya have it. It’s so f*cking hard to do which is frustrating because it’s so f*cking simple. Luckily, like everything in life, the more you practice, the better you get.
I’ve been meaning to blog about this for a while. I want to make a gratitude post like this a regular thing and today seems like the perfect day to start. As a Hillary supporter, today was very emotional for me. It was tough to keep my mind away from negativity. I used gratitude as a way to keep it “on track”.
Here’s a quick list of the things I’m thankful for today:
- my right to take part in the democratic process
- being surrounded and inspired by passionate people who stand by each other to fight for progress
- mountain views
- freedom of speech
- my wide range of emotions and sense of humor (you gotta laugh at life)
- my education
- social media (I think it’s really cool that I can understand what individuals are feeling across the country.)
- comfortable jeans
No matter your political views, take a moment to be grateful for everything that’s going right in your life. There are so many beautiful things to be grateful for.
